Love in Full Bloom | An Elegant Pastel Wedding at Missenden Abbey

Jack & Annabel’s pastel wedding at the historic Missenden Abbey was a floral dream from beginning to end. From the very first chat, it was clear that flowers were high on their priority list (always music to a florist’s ears!), and they fully embraced the joy and beauty that seasonal florals can bring to a wedding day.

Their vision came to life last July, with soft, romantic shades and plenty of natural movement—capturing the essence of summer in full bloom. The couple adored classic blooms like Hydrangeas and Roses, and wanted their floral designs to feel luxurious but not too formal…elegant, but with a relaxed, garden-like flow.

A Ceremony with a Statement Staircase

One of the standout features of the day was the bannister installation that framed Annabel’s walk down the aisle. Missenden Abbey’s ceremony space is graced with a beautiful staircase at its centre, and with every seat filled to capacity, there simply wasn’t room for a traditional flower arch. Instead, we turned the staircase bannister into a show-stopping floral moment. As Annabel descended, she was surrounded by soft pastel blooms, an unforgettable way to begin a ceremony.

Soft Pastels with a Natural Twist

While Hydrangeas and Roses are often used in more structured arrangements, I took a looser, more organic approach. To add texture and movement, I layered in a variety of seasonal summer flowers and foliages, creating a natural & airy look that complimented the romantic pastel palette.

Marquee Magic: Tall Arrangements & a Sweetheart Table

The celebrations continued in the light-filled marquee reception, where we made the most of the stunning ceiling height with tall gold risers. Each was topped with large, overflowing arrangements that brought the outdoors in and created that all-important wow factor. For the sweetheart table, Jack & Annabel opted for a full floral garland that trailed beautifully along the front. Lush, abundant, and utterly romantic.

Every detail of this day was a joy to bring to life, and Jack & Annabel were the kindest couple to work with. Their trust in the creative process made it all the more special.
