Top FAQs When Planning a Wedding

I hope you’ve all had a great start to the week so far! This post will be concentrating on my most frequently asked questions, and giving all the answers relating to planning a wedding which hopefully will make it easier for you!

How far in advance should I book your services?

When planning a wedding I always recommend booking your wedding flowers 4 months to a year before your wedding date. I do sometimes encounter couples who want to book me 2 years in advance, which is very flattering although you must be prepared for costs to increase due to inflation when you book this far in advance. I also find that tastes, colours and preferences change over such a long period of time.

Other wedding suppliers are best booked at different times, obviously the very first thing you need to do is book the wedding venue, church or civil ceremony. Wedding photographers can also be booked very early on, as the good ones get booked up very quickly.

What happens to our wedding flowers after the wedding?

You’ve paid for your flowers, so they are yours to keep! A lot of my wedding centrepieces are made within a plastic of biodegradable container which rests on top of hired glassware, so you can simple lift the display off and take it away. Some churches ask that you leave your church flowers behind after your ceremony for the congregation to enjoy, as a way to say ‘thank you’ for using the church. This isn’t always the case, so be sure to check with your church point of contact.

When are my wedding flowers made?

I always make wedding florals 1 or 2 days before the wedding date, so that they are at their full bloom and at their peak. Small items such as buttonholes and corsages are sometimes made the day of the wedding, and larger scale displays such as flower arches and floral installations have to be made on-site.

Do you set up our wedding on the day?

Yes, I always deliver your bridal bouquets and set-up weddings personally myself, i’m too much of a perfectionist to leave it up to someone else! I have helpers on larger weddings and with fitting chair covers, but be rest assured that everything gets the final sign off from myself personally.

Do you charge for delivery?

Yes, I charge for delivery and collection of any event hire items. This is done on a ‘per mile’ basis. If you’d prefer to collect your order, then this isn’t a problem.

Can you guarantee our flower choice?

Due to the nature of the business, certain flowers can never be 100% guaranteed. Lots of factors affect flower growth on farms, and occasionally it isn’t always possible for that certain flower to be delivered. In these circumstances, a substitute flower is used that is as close to the colour and form of your original choice as possible. This has only happened a handful of times, and is quite unusual.

Can our church flowers be moved to our wedding reception?

Yes of course! Pew end flowers can be re-purposed as small vase displays, pedestal displays can be used to decorate your top table. Everything can be moved and used at your reception venue. I offer a service to move your flowers across which is chargeable, or if you have a reliable and trustworthy wedding guest with a large car, you can ask them for a favour!

I hope I have answered a few of those niggling questions you may have had in your mind. If there is anything I have left out that you want answering, feel free to comment below!
